Isle of Wight charity Friends of the Animals have issued an appeal to save the sight of 4-year-old miniature poodle Susan. Susan now only has limited vision due to cataracts. She is considered a good candidate for cataract surgery, and the cost of rectifying the problem is up to £5,000. Friends of the Animals have said:
“Her name is ‘Susan’ and she’s a miniature poodle. Just four years old, she has not had a good life and now sadly due to cataracts, she only has limited vision. “I have been in contact with the vet, and Susan is considered a very good candidate for cataract surgery. The quote for surgery on both eyes has been reduced to £5,000 and for one eye the cost is £4,000 plus. “Friends of the Animals is literally her only chance of sight, and we want to go all out to try to raise sufficient funds for her to have both eyes done. “When caring people pull together, great things can be achieved.”
Anyone wishing to donate can do so here via the Paypal button on the Friends of the Animals homepage. Friends of the Animals have said:
“Any gift, no matter how big or small, will be very much appreciated.”

Unfortunately, costs like these are why most people think that vets are taking the proverbial these days. And you can guarantee the operation would not be covered by pet insurance!
I wish the poor dog well.
I agree, the surgery would take no more than an hour and a charge of £5,000 is obscene. Vets these days are no more than muggers.
I hope they checked the microchip on this one to make sure she wasn’t stolen before rehoming!
where does the report say anything about re-homing ?
I hope you read the report before commenting!
Charge of vets is ridiculous in this country, my dog had his cataract done in Spain for 1200 euros for one eye.
