The Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service, Police and paramedics are attending a fire at a residential property in Shanklin this afternoon (Saturday).
3 fire crews from Sandown, Shanklin and Ventnor initially responded to the scene off Sandy Lane at around 13:15, closely followed by resources from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service and the Incident Command Unit from Newport.
Island Echo is told by fire control that the incident was reported as being persons reported – meaning someone may be trapped inside a burning building. However, there are now said to be ‘no concerns’.
It is currently unclear what has sparked the large response.
Police are now reported to be on scene.
UPDATE – It has now transpired that there was no fire, despite the initial reports received by the fire service.
It’s said that the ambulance service requested the assistance of firefighters with gaining entry to the property after a woman suffered a medical episode.
It is unclear how the confusion occurred.

What sparked the large response. Lol
Thanks again to put over stretched emergency services

I know it’s an offence to waste police time, is it the same for the other factions of the Emergency services?
Good thing our intelegents service are not involved in this case, World War three would be triggered if this lot was running our security..
Another waste of tax payers money when someone really needs attention
