Firefighters have been working alongside colleagues from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service to safely remove an injured person from a property after they fell from a loft earlier this afternoon (Monday).
Paramedics were called to Bettesworth Road in Haylands, near to Southfield Gardens, at around midday after a 999 call reported that an individual had fallen from a ladder whilst accessing the loft space.
Due to the confined space and nature of the injuries sustained, 2 fire crews from Ryde, as well as the Response Support Vehicle from Newport, were mobilised by fire control to assist with the safe removal of the casualty.
Specialist rope equipment was used.
12 firefighters worked together with 3 paramedics to bring a resolution to the situation, with the casualty now en-route to St Mary’s Hospital for treatment.
Emergency services have now stood down from the incident.

Is that breaking news?
Only because all those emergency services were called out! Nobody would’ve bothered making it news otherwise
Confined space? 12 fire officers and 3 paramedics??????.
The three air ambulances scrambled were stood down en route. All these service crews are bored stiff sitting around at their respective bases so I suppose it’s good response training. All the equipment has already been paid for.
