Trinity Theatre in Cowes is celebrating 125 years of Cowes Amateur Operatic and Dramatic Society (CAODS) with some exciting new enterprises and activities that are designed to involve the whole community.
The anniversary programme kicks off with an Open Evening on Wednesday 14th September 2022 which has been created to bring members together and to welcome everyone who would like to learn more about becoming involved in a fun and busy amateur theatre society.
Edna Crosbie, President of CAODS, said:
“The Theatre group, founded in 1897 under the patronage of Queen Victoria’s daughter Princess Beatrice, has been welcoming visitors from the Isle of Wight and beyond for 125 years with performances that vary from Gilbert and Sullivan Light Operettas to Wife After Death, the black comedy which is our next production in October.”
Lynn Narraway, MD, Seabourn UK & Europe, who recently moved to Cowes and became involved with Trinity Theatre, said:
“We’d love to get more people involved in Trinity Theatre, especially by re-launching our Youth Theatre group. The evening will offer us the opportunity to showcase all our facilities to the public and hopefully encourage more of the Cowes community to join us, in bringing more theatre to the Isle of Wight”

It’s West Cowes, by Royal Charter of King Henry VIII. Never repealed, so name still is law, despite what Victorian town council snobs said…
