Emily Brothers – who stood in the 2024 General Election as a prospective candidate for the Isle of Wight East – has been confirmed as the Labour Party’s candidate in the forthcoming Lake North by-election.
Brothers – born in Liverpool – is a current Sandown Town Councillor and school governor at The Bay Primary and Secondary schools.
Emily’s announcement follows the news of Councillor Tig Outlaw’s immediate resignation from his position at the Isle of Wight Council earlier this week (Thursday).
During last summer’s General Election, Ms Brothers finished 4th behind Vix Lowthion (Green), Sarah Morris (Reform) and current Isle of Wight East MP Joe Robertson (Conservatives).
Speaking on the news, Emily has said:
“Today’s resignation demonstrates Conservative’s have abandoned residents in Lake North. Local people have been left behind, they deserve better.
“I’m stepping forward to serve residents in Lake North, working with the community to tackle everyday challenges and seek opportunities to flourish.
“I thank and wish Tig Outlaw well.”
Chair of Island Labour, Phil Attfield has said:
“Emily brings a wealth of experience and skills to effectively represent Lake North. She has varied interests, including serving as a Governor with The Bay schools.
“Emily has the drive, insight and compassion to make a positive difference for Lake North.”
Good luck Emily
