Firefighters are attending an electricity pole fire in Freshwater this morning (Thursday) – the second fire involving electrics in the West Wight this week.
1 appliance from Freshwater was mobilised to the scene on Hooke Hill, at the junction with Orchard Close, at around 08:00.
Although the fire was out on arrival, the pole has been severely damaged with a nearby hedge also affected.
A cordon has been established around the area whilst crews await the arrival of Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN).
The road remains open.
Yesterday (Wednesday), Freshwater’s retained firefighters were called to an electrical fire inside a residential garage, as previously reported by Island Echo.

Island echo, why do you routinely remove my comments? You are not upholding free speech, yet you frequently publish those that contain expletives? If you are going to indulge in censorship, at least be consistent.
Not just you numbty, happens to me on a constant basis, and I am sure many others. Unless your name is digby, sunshine or isle of wighter. ? Lol.
Why do you feel the need to come at me with a negative phrase ‘numbty’ ? I’m thus led to believe you are the idiot in your village.
