Passengers using early morning services on Red Funnel have been warned of disruption to their journeys this morning (Saturday).
The operator has announced a series of cancellations which are set to affect travellers heading across the Solent.
Red Funnel has announced that its 03:00 and 06:30 departures from Southampton have been withdrawn due to operational reasons, along with the 04:30 and 07:30 departures from East Cowes.
It is not yet known if further cancellations will follow.

Surely these crossings have been cancelled due to passenger numbers not being on the ferry at these times? It doesn’t make sense to cross the solent with only 2 or 3 cars onboard does it?
But when you have to leave for work purposes it is a major inconvenience
Get a tunnel
Argh yes, sorry. Must be an enormous inconvenience to people who work on the mainland.
“withdrawn due to operational reasons”
Tish Tosh that’s not how you spell “financial“
Do you expect them to run a service at a loss then .no business can survive that .
And who do they have to answer to ! That’s right no one , time after time there aloud to get away with it disgusting service
Well said
This HAS to be political. “operational reasons” !
With the money they make on this most expensive stretch of water to cross in the world those ferries should be in top condition.
Build a bridge, tunnel something so that this island is not held to ransom by the ferry operators.
IT IS A DISGRACE !!!
Totally agree
Seems like both companies are purposely running down their services, speaking to old friends over there and reading the comments here, the tunnel/bridge seems the best way forward for Islanders who need to get to the Mainland and sorry to say it, bring more grockles in to save the Island from
dying
The island is not dying,it is already overpopulated,if you need to get to the mainland on a regular basis, don’t choose to live on an island to start with !
This has occurred 3 weekends running now. Last Friday my 9pm ferry departed at 00:40 getting me in home at gone 2am after a very long day. I asked a member of staff what the issue was and he said a member of staff had not turned up at 6am that day and it affected the rest of the day. Hmmm?
