2 people who were stuck on the rocks near Culver after capsizing their kayak have been rescued this afternoon (Saturday).
HM Coastguard were alerted just after 12:20 and rescue teams were swiftly deployed.
Sandown Lifeboat helped the 2 kayakers ashore where it is understood they were met by HM Coastguard Search and Rescue teams from Bembridge and Ventnor at Sandhills Holiday Park.
Following the successful rescue, the 2 kayakers needed no medical assistance.

We used to practice canoe capsize drill in Hector’s Marine Class at Priory Boys no need for rescue agents in those days !!
Just to be pedantic, you probably practiced Kayak capsize drills using the Eskimo roll. Capsized canoe is just a case of righting it and climbing back in. Unfortunately, the names kayak and canoe are often used wrong: –
Canoe: Usually open deck boat, seated or kneeling rowing position, one-bladed paddle.
Kayak: Closed deck boat, seated position with legs stretched out, double-bladed paddle.
Of course, with all the new styles out there it’s a bit hard to define some of them. I have spent a lot of time canoeing and kayaking around the UK and in Europe, I do get worried when I hear that some people have just picked one up from eBay and haven’t had a single lesson or had a practise run in calmer waters.
