A 38-year-old man and a 54-year-old woman who were arrested on suspicion of a firearm offence last week have both been released from custody whilst investigations continue.
As previously reported by Island Echo, Police stopped the man whilst driving through Nettlestone last Monday (13th February) but when pulled over he tried to run away.
A search of the car revealed suspected Class A and Class B drugs and a quantity of cash. As a result, the driver was arrested on suspicion of possession of Class A drugs with intent to supply and acquiring criminal property.
With their suspect in custody, it was early in the afternoon that officers turned their attention to a flat on Union Street in Ryde. At around 13:00 entry was made to a property where suspected Class A drugs, drugs paraphernalia, mobile phones and other digital devices, and approximately £1,000 in cash, were located and seized.
At the address, a 54-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of possession of Class A drugs with intent to supply, and acquiring criminal property. The pair were further arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm without a certificate.
But now, a week later, Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary has confirmed that the male has been released on bail until 13th May, whilst the woman – who will face no further action in relation to the firearm offence – remains under investigation for the drugs offences.
Doesn’t seem to be much suspicion about it, looks bang to rights by me.
Surely they can’t be released? I thought we’d already found them guilty here?
Should be behind bars. Obviously not very nice people. Not upstanding, law abiding members of society. More low life living on the island that we don’t want.
