A handgun, drugs, cash and digital devices have all been seized from a flat in Ryde after Police raided the property yesterday (Monday) as part of an investigation into suspected drug dealing.
The discovery has come about after a car was stopped by Police whilst travelling between Nettlestone and St Helens yesterday morning.
It was at 11:20 that officers stopped a BMW on Eddington Road. When the vehicle stopped, the 38-year-old male driver attempted to run away from Police but was quickly detained.
A search of the car revealed suspected Class A and Class B drugs and a quantity of cash. As a result, the driver was arrested on suspicion of possession of Class A drugs with intent to supply and acquiring criminal property.
With their suspect in custody, it was early in the afternoon that officers turned their attention to a flat on Union Street in Ryde. At around 13:00 entry was made to a property where suspected Class A drugs, drugs paraphernalia, mobile phones and other digital devices, and approximately £1,000 in cash, were located and seized.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary has confirmed to Island Echo that a 54-year-old woman was arrested at the address on suspicion of possession of Class A drugs with intent to supply, and acquiring criminal property.
Shockingly, a self-loading pistol was also discovered at the address, where officers have been in attendance again this morning (Tuesday).
The 38-year-old man and 54-year-old woman were both further arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm without a certificate.
They remain in custody at this time.

I wonder how much their fines will be
ZERO. You know that – I know that – we all know that. Jokesville as ever.
Mandatory 5 year sentence just for the firearm
God there’s some scum on the island, well done to the police….I’ve just moved to Burly in the new forest, and I have to say life here is lovely compared to the island…
Not all bad news then……
Good ridence to old scum.
Yep, you kind are the problem and you have no idea, Good riddance to all the scum like you….
I feel for the good people on the island that have to live with filth like you….please don’t bread more of your kind…
To late good driver, ones in the army and my daughter just finished uni with a degree and has joined the NHS, no bs.
They are both planning on moving up north, because they can’t afford to rent on the island because of all the boomers like you moving here.
Have a happy life, and stop f’n MOANING…..x
The dealers think the Island is a soft touch
Need ANPR cameras at every ferry ON mainland side. Suspect vehicles can be detained and searched . Random drug dogs operations on all ferries and private boats would be a great deterrent.
Police do a good job but it needs to be much harder to get drugs onto the Island.
STOP the dealers. Report them .
Cannot even spell Burley correctly.
Burley crime rate for December 2022
Vehicle Crime 4
Violent Crime 2
Other Theft 1
Enough said.
Of course those statistics are only from the reported offences and crime.
Burley’s the crime hotspot of the new forest since good driver arrived there.
Much less than the island….Enough said…
Enough said? Silly response. Much worse over here .
You continue worrying about miss spellings, and ignore the “misery” that people like you thrive on, you are part of the cancer that good people on the island have to live with…
That is virtually no crime. Try looking at the figures for IoW. Drugs, rapists, wife beaters, etc. everywhere you go. Streetcheck is great for working out where your local nutters live.
Beaut place – wish I was there. Hope (sadly) to leave here this year. My beloved island has turned to £^@#. And before people down vote and say the mainland is worse – well yes, more crimes in bigger areas BUT they are addressed AND we’re not a city BUT are seeing feral behaviour, CRAZY amount of drug drive accidents but there is ZERO policing here. IW is going downhill at a rapid rate. Very sad but true.
Does that mean there’s a flat going ?
Yes, but – NO Dogs/No Irish/No Colourds
Whaaaat!!! You’re so set in the past you lot. All colours and creeds have the potential to be scum. Sounds a bit like you are too
For 20 quid yes…
Great news, drug dealers ruin lives, the more that get reported snd caught the better.
They should be stripped of everything they own, because it was all funded by vile criminal activity, and they should spend a long time in jail. Financial penalties don’t work because they simply sell more drugs to pay the fines – what a joke.
Keep reporting them , well done Police. L:et’s hope the Home Secretary wakes up and gets new more severe sentences implemented before civilised society is irreparably damaged.
Exactly!!!!!! SCUM SCUM SCUM
Yeah then they get a show all about them paid for by us! I’m in the wrong business!
Narcissism af it’s best!
what an island drugs drink now guns
Only one gun + fox hunting.
Hahahaha gutted pair of souls
‘Self loading pistol’ !! Must be a new patent
My thoughts exactly! Still, if it was a bb gun, it’s good to see it not classed as a “firearm”!
What they mean is an automatic. For example, British Army used to have an SLR (self loading rifle).
Could someone please explain what a “self-loading” pistol is? I’ve never heard of such a thing! If they mean “automatic” why not just say so?
self-loading rifle or autoloading rifle is a rifle with an action using a portion of the energy of each cartridge fired to load another cartridge
I know, I was trying to be funny!
A Glock is a SLR. Semi automatic
ryde what a shithole and the scum drug scum
