The future of Ventnor Carnival, beach safety arrangements and the Town Council’s financial challenges will be among the key topics discussed at a public consultation evening next month.
Ventnor Town Council has joined forces with the Ventnor Carnival Committee to organise the event, which will take place at St Catherine’s Church on 4th November at 18:00.
Residents are being encouraged to attend, ask questions and share their views on a range of issues affecting the town.
The future of Ventnor Carnival will be one of the main talking points, with the Carnival Chairperson and Mayor leading a discussion on how the popular community event can continue to develop.
Beach safety will also be on the agenda, with the Mayor, Deputy Mayor and representatives from local seafront businesses reviewing this year’s arrangements and seeking residents’ views on future priorities.
Concerns surrounding the seafront pumping station will be discussed by Isle of Wight Councillor Ed Blake, who represents Ventnor and St Lawrence. He will provide updates and invite comments from those attending.
The Town Council’s finances will also come under the spotlight, with the Town Clerk and Responsible Financial Officer (RFO) outlining the authority’s current financial position and the challenges it has faced ahead of setting next year’s budget.
The evening will conclude with an open forum, allowing residents to raise any other concerns, suggest improvements and put questions directly to local representatives.
Councillor Steve Cooper, Mayor of Ventnor, has said:
“This consultation evening is an important opportunity for residents to have their say on a range of issues that affect our town.
“We encourage everyone with an interest in Ventnor’s future to come along, engage in the discussions, and help shape the direction of our community.”
The meeting is free to attend and open to all members of the public.
