Bembridge RNLI’s inshore lifeboat was launched in gusty conditions earlier this afternoon (Wednesday) to recover a dinghy which had washed out to sea.
The call came in shortly before 13:10 and the lifeboat was launched to a position Northeast of Bembridge beyond the shipping lanes.
The blue hulled tender was towed back to Lane End and hauled ashore by the shore crew before the lifeboat was safely recovered at around 13:45.
If you or someone else is in difficulty on the coast or at sea, or if you spot what you think may be unexploded ordnance, then dial 999 and ask for the Coastguard. Further safety information can be found at https://coastguardsafety.campaign.gov.uk/.
