A community app aimed at tackling dog fouling across the Isle of Wight has attracted more than 130 users in just a matter of weeks.
The Isle of Poop platform allows residents to report locations where dog waste has been left on streets, parks, paths and beaches across the Island.
Since launching earlier this month on 2nd March, the initiative has quickly gained traction with Islanders keen to help highlight problem areas and encourage cleaner public spaces.
Early data collected through the platform shows that Ryde currently has the highest number of reports with 77 incidents logged, followed by Newport with 54 and Cowes with 36.
The project’s creators say each report helps build a clearer picture of where dog fouling is most common, allowing communities to better understand the scale of the issue.
In a message to users, the team behind Isle of Poop thanked Islanders for their support.
“Every single one of you is helping to make our Island’s paths, parks and beaches cleaner. Whether you’ve been reporting since day one or you’ve just signed up – thank you. Together, we’re making a real difference.”
Residents are now being encouraged to spread the word to help grow the platform further, whether by sharing the website, following the project on Facebook or simply mentioning it to fellow dog walkers.
The team is also inviting users to submit feedback and suggestions as they look to develop the platform further.
Islanders can view the map of reported incidents and find out more by visiting isleofpoop.co.uk or following the Isle of Poop Facebook page.

Just like speeding, parking on Double Yellow Lines etc etc
nothing will come of it
Lawless island.
Monkton Street Ryde NUMPTY Scaffold trucks parked
on Double Yellow Lines causing DANGEROUS blind spots
for other motorists.
WHEN WILL THE ISLAND STOP NUMPTIES PARKING ON
DOUBLE YELLOW LINES
This is exactly the problem! People can’t stick to the actual issue. The article’s about tackling dog fouling, and you’ve jumped to speeding, parking and “lawless island” without linking any of it. That’s not a point, it’s just noise.
The actual issue is that there are so many rules
BUT NO ONE POLICE’S THE RULES.
So why create rules if they are not ENFORCED!
Dog sh*t, parking on Double Yellow Lines, Zig Zags
etc etc, but to mention motorists speeding and using
phones whilst driving.
The island needs to install Radar based speed cameras
and decent CCTV
Lets catch the lawbreaking numpties.
So now it’s ‘no one enforces rules’ but also ‘let’s add more cameras and enforcement’? You’re contradicting yourself and still not addressing the actual topic of the article. It’s the same pattern, avoid the point, list random issues, call it an argument.
The country is full of rules, but no one enforces them
it is a lucky dip who gets caught and who doesn’t!
IT SHOULDN’T WORK LIKE THAT, RULES ARE RULES
It would appear that people are much more responsible the further west you go. As usual, West is Best.
You’ve obviously not walked the highways and byways of Freshwater, Marcus.
That is very true, Sandown and Ryde are dog sh*t hotspots.
More numpties in such locations.
There is no excuse for not picking up poop. I’m a dog owner and have spare poo bags in every coat and jacket along with tissues to clear up my dog’s mess. I’m as frustrated as everyone by those irresponsible owners that don’t pick up – mind you it’s same people that shouldn’t own a dog in the first place…it’s also pain when others use the poo bins for general waste when there aren’t enough of them in the first place!
