A 2-vehicle collision near Shalfleet has prompted a response from the emergency services this afternoon (Wednesday).
A vehicle transporting horses is reported to have gone into the rear of a car.
Police and paramedics were called to the A3054 between Shalfleet village and the Horse and Groom pub – near to Hamstead Drive – at just before 14:40.
The Isle of Wight Ambulance Service remains on scene checking over those involved.
Traffic is heavy in the area on what is the main road between Newport and Yarmouth. Southern Vectis say their Route 7 buses are diverting via Welow in both directions.
UPDATE @ 15:40 – Police have confirmed that the incident has involved a grey Fiat Doblo Dynamic and a horsebox.
The driver of the Fiat has suffered minor head injuries and has been treated at the roadside. No other injuries have been reported.
The collision is being treated as an accident at this time.
Hampshire Constabulary say that the road has now re-opened in both directions.
