More than 300 Islanders have already secured their place in next month’s Dash in the Dark – a popular night-time 5km fun run in aid of Hampshire &d Isle of Wight Air Ambulance.
The event returns to The Royal County Showground in Northwood on Saturday 4th October, with participants encouraged to don their brightest clothes, funkiest fancy dress, neon face-paints and glow-sticks as they light up the route.
A record 500 people took part in last year’s Isle of Wight Dash in the Dark, raising more than £17,000 – enough to fund five emergency missions for the life-saving air ambulance charity.
Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance Director of Income and Engagement, Keith Wilson, said:
“Dash in the Dark is a highlight of the year for our charity and our supporters. The energy and atmosphere make Dash in the Dark a totally unique 5K.
“Not only is it a wonderful event, but it raises thousands of pounds every year to help our remarkable crew respond to critically ill and injured people across our region. A huge thank you to everyone who continues to champion this event and our charity, helping us save lives every day.”
Check-in on the night opens at 17:30, with the softly-lit, fully paved course suitable for all ages – though head torches are recommended. Every participant will receive a free Dash in the Dark T-shirt on sign-up, as well as a glow-in-the-dark medal at the finish line.
Ticket prices remain unchanged from last year, with adult entry set at £20 and children (5–15 years) £16. Every penny raised will help keep the Air Ambulance on the frontline, saving lives across the region.
