Ventnor man Grant Ward is walking the 100-mile South Down Way for charity this Easter.
Grant will be walking from Winchester to Eastbourne to raise money for the Royal Brompton & Harefield Hospital.
Grant was born with a genetic condition called Cystic Fibrosis which has greatly affected the quality of his health throughout his life. In August 2018, Grant underwent a life-saving double lung transplant at the hospital he has chosen to raise funds for.
He says:
“It has been a hard few years, but things are thankfully getting better. So, on the 18th April, I thought I would get some fresh air in my new puffers and attempt to walk the South Down Way. A 100 miles route from Winchester to Eastbourne to raise money to support the Royal Brompton & Harefield Hospital Charity.
“These are the guys who gave me my new lungs, my new life and ongoing excellent aftercare. They are a great team that goes above and beyond the call of duty. I can’t thank them enough. But like all NHS hospitals, they need our help to provide this extra level of care for their patients.”
Grant has set up a Facebook fundraising page for anyone wishing to fund his walk.
Your an inspiration good luck to you
Go for it Grant, your doing great work, much respect…
