The disability charity Cowes Sailability is offering wheelchair users the chance to drive a high-speed boat on the Solent for 5 days in Cowes Week – 29th July to 2nd August. The charity has hired the 9m boat Wetwheels, which is specially designed to take wheelchairs. Trips – which are about 90 minutes long – are totally free for those with a disability and their carers. It gives wheelchair users the chance to get out into the Solent and see the boats for themselves. Places are free for those with a disability and their carer, but they need to be reserved. Wetwheels has also been hired for 3 further days: the 14th, 15th and 16th August. On these days, priority will be given to children with a disability accompanied by their parents and siblings. UPDATE ON FRIDAY 26TH JULY – Places are almost fully booked. For any information contact Cowes Sailability.
