A 54-year-old man has been charged with failing to provide following a collision in which a Nissan ended up crashing into a wall in East Cowes over the weekend (Easter Sunday). As first reported by Island Echo, officers from Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary were called to the scene on Cambridge Road at around 14:30 following reports of a road traffic collision involving a Nissan Leaf and a parked BMW estate. At the scene, the electric Nissan had clipped the German estate and had ended up careering straight into a brick wall at the front of a residential property. The road was closed for some time whilst Bartletts worked to remove the vehicle from the road. Police have since confirmed that 54-year-old Jason Warren from Grange Road has been charged with failing to provide a specimen for analysis. He has been bailed to appear at the Isle of Wight Crown Court on Tuesday 16th April.

Let’s hope his insurance doesn’t pay out for his car…. Stupid is stupid does… why fail to provide ? There’s always a chance you could be below the limit…
Well all it takes is two beers and you are over the limit. There isn’t a chance to be below the limit if you have had more or are completely wasted.. Basically it is obvious if you are over.
By failing to give a specimen no one knows how high your reading is . Should attract a minimum of 3 years disqualification and a heavy financial penalty. Oh and an interim disqualification until case resolved. People have to learn drinking and driving don’t is a big NO NO
I think gabion cages are the solution to vehicles crashing into walls, but let us not forget other crimes like illegally parked vehicle on Great preston road and outside sandown pier.
No vehicles illegally parked along Great Preston Road
since Island Roads done a great job placing Double Yellow Lines.
Double Yellow Lines are required along many busy roads on the island
It is the only way to stop selfish idiots parking illegally.
What about the poor builders disabled daughter. Surely you realise she has to walk much further now. Not good for her is it?
Park on the drive, some of us road users are not fortunate enough
to have a drive and have to walk to our homes.
Looking at her she isn’t disabled.
Correct, just a lazy law breaking individual who can’t be bothered walking
anywhere and does not respect others.
Double yellows just provides opportunity for revenue via fines, maybe they should fix the potholes on Great preston road too.
Ah yes..gabion cages.. and perhaps ivy searl.. preferably tied to the front bumper. Of the car… excellent idea…
Sleeping Policeman are required
And some awake ones?
Still breathing you old fluff
Unless guilty, why fail to provide.
COPD? Asthma? Long covid? All reasonable excuse to refuse, in which case the police are then obligated to arrest. Could then be proved in court via medical notes.
Rubbish, not like being asked to blow a balloon up which is 10x harder. Failing to provide just gets a lesser ban and to insurance in future will not be as high – that’s what he thinks.
It really doesn’t, failure to provide can carry a much higher penalty.
But would be offered a blood testwhich he must have refused.
Not necessarily.
What about samples of urine , or blood , both of which qualify, and as for sample of breath at least they could try
But very unlikely
I think he was pissed ..
Crown court??? That must mean a prison sentence is on the cards….
I don’t understand that as he’s charged with a summary offence which is dealt with in a magistrates court.
complete scum hope he loses a lot
Lives locally. Him or his partner are known to have an alcohol problem. It’s common knowledge. Luckily no one was walking by the wall.
It’s an absolutely awful disease. I wouldn’t wish it on anyone.
The first time we had to get out the car was the last time I saw a man with the same face on the front seat as I was on my last trip
Please don’t judge Jason so harshly. He has PTSD & sadly uses alcohol to manage his flashbacks. I’ve done everything I can to help him, but (for him) alcohol is a stronger draw. The shops in East Cowes have been amazing & most won’t serve him vodka. The crash did happen & ending up in court is the correct outcome. So while I agree with your posts, Jason isn’t scum. So please be kind.
Then please help him and the keep the community safe, by taking the car keys from him, until he is 100% sober…
I am sorry, but not surprised, Jason & I have a ‘colourful’ reputation in East Cowes. Please be assured I’m working as hard as I can to get Jason onto a recovery path. We love living here so much, the last thing we’d want is to stand out for the wrong reasons. Give me a couple of years and I promise you ‘The Jason’s’ will be an asset to this wonderful town.
