The leader of the Isle of Wight Council, Councillor Dave Stewart, has today (Monday) advised Island residents that they are able to keep up to date with information on coronavirus by checking government webpages.
The virus is spreading across the world and has resulted in a number of deaths. The first people in the UK to be confirmed to be carrying coronavirus were located in York.
Councillor Dave Stewart says:
“National government webpages are being regularly updated, so anyone who is looking for information should check there first.
“The Isle of Wight Council is monitoring the situation carefully, and we have been working closely with partners in Public Health England and the NHS both here and on the mainland.
“Our Emergency Planning teams are working in close consultation with our health Partners and I am confident that we are well-prepared should a situation develop on the Island.
“However at this time I can confirm that no cases or concerns have been raised for the Isle of Wight.”
More information about the coronavirus can be found at https://www.gov.uk/guidance/wuhan-novel-coronavirus-information-for-the-public.
Anyone with concerns can also call NHS 111.

Surely they should close temporarily and compensate Chinese restaurants if any of the owners or staff have been to celebrate in China, or have had contact with family members who have?
It could be money well spent as only need to do so for a few weeks.
Going on past performance of our beloved council………..OMG
