34-year-old Nicola Rachel Pahita, who shouted homophobic comments at a man within earshot of a Police officer, has appeared before Magistrates.
Pahita, of School Street in Ryde, was given a conditional discharge when she appeared at the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court on Tuesday charged with using threatening/abusive words/behaviour likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress.
Liz Miller, prosecuting, detailed that at around 01:20 on 1st May Police were alerted to 3 people banging on the door of a local woman. It followed an incident earlier in the evening – related to an assault – which also saw Police attend the Ryde Town Centre address.
Police responded to the 999 call but the individuals had already left the scene. A Police officer waited nearby to see if the individuals would return, which they did. It was then that the constable heard Pahita shout:
“B**y c**ts, I’ll f**k you all up! F**king b**ty boys”.
The Police officer determined that the comments were homophobic in nature and arrested a drunken Nicola, who was taken into custody to sober up and be interviewed.
Representing herself, Nicola Pahita told the court that she didn’t leave and come back and was only shouting after a mobile phone was thrown out of a window at her. She accepted that she does not get on with the people to whom the verbal abuse was directed.
Magistrates handed down a 9-month conditional discharge and ordered Nicola Pahita to pay £85 costs with a £22 surcharge.
Before leaving the court, Miss Pahita asked: “Will this be on Island Echo?”…
