‘Absolutely Fantastic’ was the reaction of Mark and Kathryn Grimes on realising that the Concert held at St Savoir’s Church in Shanklin on Saturday had raised an incredible £1100 for The Brain Tumour Charity.
Mark, a firefighter based at Ryde, suffered a brain tumour back in April, but after an operation and months of rehabilitation he has recovered well and is now back at work, albeit on light duties.
During this time the support that he and his wife, Kathryn have received for members of The Brain Tumour Charity has been invaluable and as such Mark is raising as much as he can to help this underfunded Charity. He completed the Great South West run last month and is already planning on running the London Marathon in 2016.
Cate Clark, who organised the Concert said:
“To raise this amount is such an achievement. I want to thank all the artists who contributed to such a wonderfull variation of musicial entertinment.
“To get an encore made the evening for me”.
The concert programme included songs from opera, west end shows, easy listening, comedy pieces and community singing led by David T Yates.
The Artist’s, who all gave their time freely, included Cantobelle, Newchurch Male Voice Choir, Janet Jones, Paul Stevens, John Woodford with Eleanor Riley and Kelly McCarthy, who made the trip over from the mainland.
