Police are looking into reports of anti-social behaviour, including the smoking of drugs, at a nature reserve in Seaview.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary has been made aware of issues arising at Hersey Nature Reserve at Seaview Duver, in particular youths being abusive to visitors and smoking cannabis in the Reserve’s bird hide.
Local residents took to social media earlier this month to highlight the issue, with one stating that on at least 2 occasions women were verbally abused and even followed.
PCSO Steve Hull, from North East Wight Neighbourhood Policing Team, is liaising with the Isle of Wight Council and Seaview & Nettlestone Parish Council on the matter, exploring ways to deter the unwanted behaviour.
Patrols are being carried out and Countrywatch signs have been erected.
PCSO Hull says:
“Please do keep reporting any incidents of anti-social behaviour to us by either calling 101, or using the report tool online at https://www.hampshire.police.uk/ro/report/asb/asb-v3/report-antisocial-behaviour/“.
Prior to building the new sea wall along the Seaview Duver,
In 2002, the Isle of Wight Council acquired a 50-year lease of the undeveloped land now known as the Hersey Nature Reserve. The Reserve regularly sees British bird species and migrating species, such as the Dark-bellied brent goose, Eurasian teal and Black-tailed godwit.

It’s about time all druggies were banged up,
there is no place in society for uneducated Numpty’s.
Quick, dust off your tin hat and protect us all! King Numpty
I would bang up all uneducated Numpty’s.
Camp Hill could be re-opened to house them
all.
Will that include people who have a limited vocabulary and misuse punctuation constantly?
Unfortunately drugs are a problem Island wide.
The island stinks of Cannabis,
it is everywhere you go!
