HM Coastguard worked alongside the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service (IOWAS) to rescue a female who had injured herself and whilst walking in the rural village of Newtown earlier this afternoon (Sunday). Alerted just after shortly after 13:00, Coastguard Rescue Teams (CRT) from Ventnor and the Needles were mobilised to Town Lane in Newtown following reports that an elderly woman had become injured whilst walking. At the scene, numerous resources from IOWAS including an Operational Commander were also called. Once rescued the casualty – who Island Echo understands had also become stuck in the mud -was transferred into the care of the ambulance service and taken to St Mary’s Hospital. All teams present stood down at around 15:00.

More money wasted on silly individuals
Why again so many medics to one individual when others get none or have to wait many hours. Surely one could of triaged first?.. if I was the injured party I would be more upset I had taken resources away from others.
Should be locked up in a nursing home
Gosh what some very nasty ignorant people there are on this island.. Regardless of whether you know the circumstances your comments show a lack of humanity and intelligence. I do hope that if any of you ever need help you are treated better than the way you would treat people.
I expect these twats commenting are the same ones that call an ambulance when they cut there finger or have a tummy bug . Believe me you would be shocked how many people call an ambulance for the most minor problems, only 20% / 25% really need ambulance as there are taxis ?? But they charge and are not free.
THINK BEFORE RINGING 999 (is this something l need an ambulance for or not)
well when I working up to 60 hours a week I don’t my money and taxes wasted on rubbish like this ok women
A bit of a surprise that you find the time to comment here.
Perhaps Kev you need to brush up on your English, if you can find time in your busy schedule
