Ventnor Coastguard Rescue Team was tasked to assist a yacht that had run aground a short distance off Lake beach this evening (Thursday).
HM Coastguard received a 999 call from a member of the public reporting a boat aground in Shanklin at just before 18:00.
The vessel and its owner were located a short distance off from the shore in Lake, with the boat suffering from an ingress of water.
With support from Sandown and Shanklin Independent Lifeboat, which was also tasked to the scene, Coastguard Rescue Officers assisted the owner of the boat in pumping water from the yacht and gave help in securing the vessel against the incoming tide.
The teams also gave suitable safety advice, and have urged mariners to ensure they have working VHF radios.
The vessel will be further inspected for damage in the morning.
