Details of which pharmacies will be open during the forthcoming festive period have been confirmed, with 4 Isle of Wight pharmacies open on Christmas Day itself.
Revised opening hours are in operation across Christmas Day, Boxing Day and the bank holiday in lieu of Christmas Day, as well as New Year’s Day and the day in lieu on 2nd January.
Boots in Ryde High Street, Day Lewis Pharmacy in Carisbrooke and Kemkay Chemist in Freshwater will all be open on 25th December from 10:00-13:00, with Jhoots Pharmacy in Sandown open from 15:00-18:00.

Derek Sandeman, chief medical officer for the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Integrated Care System, said:
“We would ask people who may need to order repeat prescriptions to please submit them in good time, and not leave them to the last minute.
“It might be pushing it for Christmas now, but it’s important to think about getting in your requests for the period between Christmas and the New Year.
“As well as being an invaluable High Street resource, pharmacies of course offer expert advice about over-the-counter medicines to treat common health conditions, as well as information on medication and a range of other services.
“There are lots of coughs and seasonal ailments doing the rounds at present, and pharmacists offer a fast and convenient service.
“Your pharmacist is also trained to advise you if you need to see a GP, nurse or other healthcare professional.”

When did our chemists become pharmacies? Was it before or after our railway stations became train stations?
Well done to all the staff working on Boxing Day at our local pharmacy at Yarmouth the manager and staff are brilliant at least you can get to speak to someone not like our doctors surgery
Why don’t you ask your local apothecary or druid?
“It might be pushing it for xmas now”, its the 22 Dec and comment is passed for repeat prescriptions, it normally takes 2-3 working days to even get a repeat prescription.
A reminder might have been a good idea a week to 10 days ago for those who are forgetful, but 22 Dec. Really not good timing for a reminder! This just adds pressure for already over stretched GP practices and pharmacies.
Not good timing!
Sorry Kev, we all forgot that the solar system revolves around you !
Well done Yarmouth Pharmacy. Stayed open all through the pandemic and usually open seven days a week.
Only ever closes one day a year – Christmas Day!
Thank you!
Why do they have to stay open? They deserve a break too? Anyone who needs medication should make sure they have enough?
