Year 6 pupils at St Thomas of Canterbury Catholic Primary School in Carisbrooke have taken on the 100 Mile Challenge in memory of Sir Captain Tom Moore.
Each child was asked to record their running and walking over a 1 week period with the aim of reaching a total of 100 miles.
Year 6 teacher, Kate Bakewell, said:
“The children approached me with the idea before the half-term holiday and we thought it was a lovely way to pay tribute to an inspirational man as well as raising funds to support our hard-working NHS staff.”
Over the half-term week, the children clocked up the miles – despite the rain and wind – and as a group, they have walked and run a total of 245 miles. Some of the determined young walkers individually achieved over 20 miles!
So far, their efforts have raised over £500 for NHS Charities Together via their JustGiving page https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/stocy6.

Fantastic, and sticks in the throats of all the old sods who love to fire unfounded attacks on youngsters. Keep the good work up kids. 🙂 I’m rooting for you.
