The mixing of cleaning chemicals led to a homeowner being treated by paramedics at an address in Cowes this afternoon (Saturday).
Emergency services were called to Bellevue Road in the town at just gone 14:00 when a person became unwell as a result of accidentally mixing cleaning products together.
This created toxic and potentially deadly fumes.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service mobilised 3 appliances from Newport to the scene, with firefighters working to ventilate the property.
Firefighters used gas monitoring equipment to assess the situation before clearing the chemical fumes from the property.
Paramedics from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service treated the casualty. Their condition is unknown.
The incident was quickly resolved with fire crews returning to station at 14:45.

Another brainless dumbo unable to read the warnings printed on the cleaning products…..
Was it Heisenberg by any chance?
This time it was the Fire Brigade that knocks.
Please leave my stash
Three fire crews to open a window…..
They call it ‘Positive ventilation now’ in other words open a window or use a fan.
Total bull to fool the public into thinking they are needed in vast swarms of double pay on Sundays.
Total waste of money.
Good grief, just open the windows, flush the w.c and keep our taxes down
Usually just open window and maybe 111 for advice, sure many people use spray bleach etc and mist makes you caugh or eyes water, you just move yourself to fresh air ,3 fire appliances and gas monitoring equipment and breathing suits , definitely more to this story maybe!.
The island’s first meth lab gets busted!
