A car has collided with a telegraph pole and rolled into a field near Thorness tonight (Wednesday).
Emergency services are currently on scene at the top of Rolls Hill Road between Northwood and Thorness on the main road that connects Cowes to the rural area of Porchfield.
The telegraph pole has been brought down as a result of the impact.
Island Echo understands that a second vehicle has been caught up in the incident having come into contact with fallen cables.
Police are diverting motorists away from the scene whilst paramedics from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service tend to those involved – thought to be 1 casualty.
No one is thought to be trapped.
UPDATE – The road has now re-opened to all traffic.
UPDATE THURSDAY – The driver of a Mazda MX5 sustained minor injuries only, Police have confirmed.
