Girlguiding, the UK’s largest youth organisation, has undergone its biggest brand refresh in some 113 years.
Most people will have heard of Girlguiding or Girl Guides as members of the public and some members of the media insist on calling those who belong to this movement first created in 1909/10.
In fact, the name Girl Guides referring to members aged 10-14 was changed some twenty years ago with girls in this age range renamed Guides. Some people don’t understand that Girlguiding is the umbrella name for all members whether they be a 4-year-old Rainbow, a Brownie, a Guide, a Ranger or a leader.
Now, after years of research and redesign the refreshed look and feel for Girlguiding has arrived – announced on International Women’s Day.
Lots of things have changed, from fonts to logos but some of the most noticeable things are the Trefoil, the way sections look and the new brand purpose.
Girlguiding has hundreds of members across the Isle of Wight so get ready to notice the difference although the uniforms are not changing just yet.
Girlguiding HQ in London have issued the following:
“We help all girls know they can do anything and our brand purpose is what drives us forward.
“Through research, we discovered that our old description, ‘Girlguiding is the leading charity for girls and young women in the UK’, didn’t really explain who we were to people outside Girlguiding.
“Using ‘charity’ meant that it wasn’t clear that we offered fun and adventure for girls. It wasn’t showing we were actively doing things to help girls build confidence, make friends and change the World.”

Starbucks changed their logo quite a few times over the last three or four decades… the only time anyone actually notices is when the media mention it… unless you have shares in it, it’s kinda… irrelevant…
