The Bonchurch Inn has been named as the best pub on the Isle of Wight by national newspaper, The Telegraph.
Experts have revealed their list of mustn’t-miss pubs across the country which includes the popular Ventnor establishment – known for its ‘life-changing lasagne’ and selection of cask ales.
Top-quality Italian food, pub grub and a friendly welcome entice patrons in time and time again, with the Besozzi family building The Bonchurch Inn’s strong reputation over the past 40 years.
The history of the building goes back to the early 1840s before becoming the Tap of the Bonchurch Family Hotel. The Inn’s name as we know it today was recorded as far back as the 1920s.
The Besozzi family’s connection with this top destination began when Ulisse and Gillian took the helm in 1984. With Ulisse’s passing in 2016, it is now children Adrian and Vicky – alongside their mum Gillian – who lead this unspoilt pub.
Speaking about the accolade, which kick-starts 2025, Adrian Besozzi has told Island Echo:
“It’s a privilege to be part of an ongoing traditional loving family business and to continue my parent’s legacy.
“I feel honoured to of had such recognition and can only pass on thanks to all our staff, supporting customers and friends”.
