The Royal Navy Bomb Disposal team have been deployed across the Solent to the Isle of Wight this evening (Thursday).
Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) experts are thought to be in attendance off Arctic Road in Cowes, where a piece of suspected ordnance has been discovered.
Island Echo understands the military team boarded the Wightlink ferry from Portsmouth at around 18:30 before blue lighting from Fishbourne to Cowes, arriving in the town at around 19:30.
Earlier this week the Royal Logistic Corps detonated a number of flares on the beach at Yaverland.
