Armed Police are keeping guard over a boat that has been cordoned off at Yarmouth Harbour this morning (Sunday).
An inner cordon has been established around the vessel ‘Yvonne T’ with access to the pontoon it is moored alongside also taped off.
It is currently unclear when the vessel arrived in Yarmouth but Island Echo understands that officers have been on scene at the quayside overnight.
A convoy of Police vehicles was seen heading towards Yarmouth at around 21:30 last night.
Armed Response Officers have been deployed to keep a watchful eye over the boat, alongside 2 other officers from Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary.
It’s known that the small commercial fishing vessel is a former Wightlink work boat, but it’s unknown who the vessel now belongs to and which port it is based out of. It does not appear to have AIS tracking.
Today’s activity comes just a week after bundles of high purity cocaine were found floating in the sea off the Isle of Wight – and washed ashore on beaches in the West Wight.
However, it is unclear at this time if the seizure of the vessel is in connection with the ongoing National Crime Agency investigation.
UPDATE @ 10:33 – Officers from Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary’s Marine Support Unit are conducting a fingertip search of the boat this morning.
Police Boat Pursuer has crossed the Solent with a team of 4 to carry out the search at Yarmouth Harbour.
Border Force officials have also arrived in Yarmouth onboard Hunter.
Police have been approached for a statement with further information expected as the day progresses…

Did you mean “lobster” pots?
Jail these evil people. Illegal drug supply is destroying life for so many families . Because the potential profits are so high then financial penalties are pointless – jail every time, and confiscate all their assets too.
Well done all those involved in catching them
Well there you go, no need for evidence or a court or any of that boring stuff. Keith has already decided that you are guilty. Congratulations Keith you are a legend
