A local bee expert was called in to Wightlink’s FastCat terminal this week after a swarm of around 500 bees settled on a supporting beam, joining in on the festival buzz.
Festival-goers were not the only ones seen to be causing a buzz around Wightlink’s Ryde Pier Head terminal this weekend after a local swarm of around 500 bees decided to make themselves at home at the end of the pier.
It was on Sunday (21st June) when the colony of bees first arrived at Ryde Pier Head, attracting swarms of attention from passengers and staff alike.
With the festival now over for another year, Wightlink called in local bee expert Laura Saddler, known as the “Bee Lady”, to safely collect the
swarm and relocate it to nearby hives.
Wightlink Operations Manager, Martin Gulliver, said:
“We are really grateful to Laura for making sure the bees were removed safely so they can now enjoy life in a far more suitable location.”
The bees were successfully removed without incident and have now been given a new home at local hives, ensuring the ferry terminal could continue operating as normal.
