The driver of an Audi hatchback fled the scene following a crash into a hedge in Chale on Friday evening. Police first received a report of a car having left the road at around 19:50 on Friday evening. At the scene on Military Road near Chale Recreation Ground a black Audi A3 had careered straight through a hedge and into a field. Upon their arrival though, the driver was nowhere to be seen. Island Echo understands that the driver allegedly admitted to passers by that he was drunk, however Police have yet to find him.

Plate number would help identify the lowlife, why can’t the police do their job??
These lowlife drugged up or drunk chavs, usually drive this type of old bangers because they have the mentality to think they are above the law…
Unless the car was stolen and then the rightful owner would be mistaken for the perpetrator. These things have to be checked first before a public lynching can go ahead.
The has been an advance in science, fingerprinting and DNA, so if stolen a quick check with car owner and those using it can establish if they are in the clear
Hahaha….armchair forensic expert who doesn’t know anything about forensics! Don’t believe all the fiction as the reality is a real let down!
Agreed lowlife drugged up etc,but saying old banger is why you marked down, not everyone can afford new car’s, mostly those around are either leased or Mobility and others are in debt and rented homes. I drive so called old banger’s in fact several. I own outright my home, have a good amount of savings and live now a very pleasant life, best part no longer working- don’t claim any benefits.
Same here running 4 older vehicles all perfect cost me next to nothing completely reliable..
Chavs Haa…Your just pissed off .Because you can’t afford one.
I have a New Toyota CHR and paid cash for it, I also own my £500k home, no rent, no mortgage….Chavs spend their money on drugs and or booze….And most of them don’t work….
You also spend all your free time commenting on island echo posts.. so money hasn’t bought you happiness has it :///
Nice response. Well done
Me thinks you doth protest too much…
A Toyota CHR?
Not exactly something to crow about, whatever it’s age.
38k, jealousy will only make you angry, except some people are loosers like yourself, and the rest make the right decisions in life…
I don’t care what it cost you, still one of the naffest cars on the road.
I’ll stick to my Defender.
Land Rover – ha ha ha !!! Hope you got breakdown cover.
Better to be looser than up tight…get a grip man! Aspiring to own a Honda and then boasting about it hardly makes you a role model . Besides that, one only has to peruse through your ever so insightful comments to realise that maybe the anger lies within? Just saying x
What’s a looser?
Shoelaces that havebecone untied;^
I have a Ferrari and a 1 million pound house
Don’t tell me, your benefits paid for it all…LoL..
Your a danger to the young
You sound like a chav! Stating how much your home is worth and what car you’ve got ahah
What? Afford an audi DIESEL?
no thanks ill pass
No police useless…he get’s naff all anyway..
What with the old banger?? its not 1970s that’s quite a newish car which if not crashed will run for years ..
My mate Jo Bloggs at it again
What’s the type of car got to do with it? Could be a 23 plate posh boy who crashed n you wouldn’t put your nose up just because it’s an older car you base your comment on that, ahah knob
All of you that have assumed it’s a man and he’s a chav, do you actually know what chav stands for?
Another piece of scum putting all our lives at risk
wow, all our lives? is he the proud owner of a shipment of WMD’s? We can always set up a hedge fund for the affected fauna, but really? Put some effort into your comments. A bot could do better.
Police can’t be looking that hard seen as he went straight home! No alcohol consumed at all, just unfortunately lost control of the car. No injuries, damaged fence has already been paid for. Only loss is the car! Find better stories to report on.
whilst that may be true,…
unfortunately (for the driver) it is a legal requirement to report teh accident to the police and remain at the scene.
if you don’t, not only are you comitting an offence (which can include points, fine, or prison) , but you’ll get the sort of speculative comments you can see on here…even if it was an innocent mistake…
I maybe wrong, so dont chastise me. If there is no need for any emergency services or damage to 3rd party property, then surely its just a waste of resources to call them out? No harm done, other than pride.
Nope. Legally and ethically you are obliged to remain at the scene even if the single car crash only damaged your own vehicle plus surrounding objects such as a fence, parked car or other structure. Failure to do so can result in criminal hit and run charges. If the driver was completely innocent then report it and stay near the accident. He didn’t so logical assumption is he wasn’t in a fit state to drive.
I love a little 5 and drive
Drunk, and probably no insurance, and license and drugged up
hopefully DNA on the seat and steering wheel will nab the low life.
sorry, was someone killed? Or does someone watch to much CSI
Oh, brilliant comment! Just spat my coffee out through my nose!!
All may be well but losing control not good, thank goodness it didn’t hit another vehicle.
great bit of driving, hope they catch this idiot too.
Police are absolutely useless, best take matters into your own hands these days. If he was in my field i would have battered him.
Didn’t know they had a chip shop in Chale
Is it me, or am I right in saying that the majority of Audi drivers are
W⚓nkers!.
Lets hope plod look up his reg and lock him up, why abandon a vehicle
unless having something to hide.
Drink or Drugs must be the answer.
These old A3’s seem to be a favourite with drug dealers.
Chill out danger mouse ahahah nothing to do with the car could’ve been a 87 year old retired man what’s it got to do with drug dealing
There are NO driving rules on this island.
People drive in Yaverland Carpark the wrong way round.
Motorbikes this evening left the car park and were doing wheelies along the road
towards Sandown Bay Holiday Centre.
Vehicles that park illegally on the Double yellow lines outside Sandown Pier
even drive out in the wrong direction
Where is Traffic Law on this Lawless Island
Nice one ! Get the selfish idiots off the road, they come out to the Military Road with no regard for others and speed up and down to Freshwater thinking their cars will keep them safe, if we had a few more do the same others might take notice! The idiot can catch a bus now.
Take away licence to never drive again.
Absolutely ridiculous situation when these morons are allowed to drive again.
And the police aren’t allowed to shoot these people in the back of the head, why?
What a weird thing to say, who hurt you John?
Oh dear. Are you OK?
Another wanker off the road hope he get’s done but i dought it..more twat’s arriving soon..it’s only monday.
Your use of English just gets better and better
Doubt** lol mong
Probably waited until someone came to pick him up and went home to tell dad he wrecked the car.
However, “flees scene” wins ad impressions and winds up the mouth-breathers a treat, so job done.
So another escapes the short arm of the law, presumably, I hope, they have run the plates, so unless it was srolen there is a good chance of a collar.
Also must be an advanced driver as its still on the wheels:)
How about the people he allegedly talked to, no decent description.
If it had been a cat there would be a thousand pictures on the web lol.
