A 37-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a string of offences including aggravated vehicle taking, assault and criminal damage following a domestic incident in Shanklin yesterday (Sunday).
Officers moved in to make the arrest on Station Avenue, Sandown – near the junction with The Broadway – late last night.
Police have confirmed that the arrest follows a domestic incident in Shanklin earlier in the day where a vehicle was taken without the owners consent.
The 37 year-old male, from Shanklin, was arrested on suspicion of aggravated vehicle taking, assault causing actual bodily harm, criminal damage, possession of a Class B drug, failure to provide a specimen for analysis and failure to co-operate with a preliminary test (motor vehicle offence).
He has been bailed until 27th February pending further enquiries.
Police were conducting enquiries in the Milford Road and Atherley Road area of Shanklin this afternoon (Monday), as previously reported by Island Echo.
A number of officers, accompanied by a dog unit, were going from property to property in the search for an individual.
A spokesperson for Hampshire Constabulary has confirmed that the incident relates to a domestic incident which was reported yesterday (Sunday).
It is unclear at this stage if the 2 incidents are connected.
