Police are appealing for information following the sudden death of a woman in her 70s at her home in Cowes on Friday.
Officers from Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary were called to the residential address on Seaview Road at around 11:00 on Friday morning (24th March).
At the scene, a woman in her 70s was found. Her death isn’t being treated as suspicious.
A Police presence was maintained at the scene over the weekend with detectives carrying out door-to-door inquiries into the exact circumstances of the incident.
A spokesperson from Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary has said:
“Officers have been carrying out initial enquiries to establish the exact circumstances of her death. As such, local residents may have seen an increased police presence in the area. If anyone has any information in relation to this incident, they are asked to call 101, quoting 44230117081.”



























































































Is this the normal procedure if some one dies in their own home and not being treated as suspicious?
Old people die. Fact of life.
If there is nothing suspicious then I don’t see any point in wasting more police time.

If death is unexpected and a Dr unable to certify cause of death the matter has to be reported to the Coroner who will require a lot of info to make a decision on whether or not a post mortem should take place and, potentially, an inquest. Yes, it is normal.
