After a successful day of action yesterday, Police here on the Isle of Wight have today (Thursday) stopped a large number of motorists for numerous driving infringements including catching a driver coming off the ferry at Fishbourne under the influence of drugs for the 2nd day in a row.
The operation began early this morning with mainland Roads Policing Officers (RPU) in marked and unmarked vehicles being utilised, as well as 4 motorcycles.
A total of 30 drivers were reported today (Thursday), with many of them fined for a variety of offences including speeding, insecure loads, excessive tints, illegal number plates, no seatbelts and the use of mobile phones at the wheel.
Today’s total is some 20 shy of the total from Wednesday, in which a mammoth 50 motorists were caught.
2 prohibition orders were served on defective vehicles forcing the drivers to seek alternative transport home, and 1 vehicle that was being driven ‘stolen’ was also recovered.
The driver who was caught drug driving was arrested. As was another culprit who was found to have committed the exact same offence.

Great news, keep up the pressure on the idiot motorists.
That’s the monthly targets hit then!
Keep it going for another six months…
So has the drugged up driver has been arrested and in custody? Is this a different driver to yesterday or same one, story not that clear at beginning, what’s he doing here? Have police confiscated and searched his vehicle?.
Ask them how are we supposed to know
Regrettably there is nobody spare to direct traffic around the broken down horse box on Horsebridge Hill. Traffic from Cowes is queuing from the former Honda garage at Northwood.
can’t our goon’s do this then Have to have the big boys from that there mainland..supose ours booking stray sheep on the road ere..
Can you put that in English?
Hey kev how’s Bev
This just a drop in the Solent. I pass the vehicles in the morning the sink of weed. It’s a joke.
Well done and Thanks for all your hard work it’s nice to know that you are saving us from these irresponsible drivers!
It just shows that there is a need for a greater roads policing presence on the Island at all times.
Excellent work, get the morons off the road. Very satisfying
The amount of cars these days on the island that drive past stinking of weed. It’s a lot. The cost of removing the roads policing unit. Well done Tories. Or should I say the blue mafia of Westminster. In a few years it’ll be the red mafia of Westminster to take their pound of flesh from the British people. Comes to something when our current PM was pretending not to live in the UK.
Am I the only one that’s alarmed at the number of people caught driving whilst on drugs, over the limit, without insurance etc?
Well done to the police; keep up the great work!
In Brading High Street earlier, and the amount of vehicles turning into
NO Right turn West Street
MOTORISTS ARE LAUGHING AT THE FAKE SIGN
No one Police”s it
Lol
Yeah well done I’m sure the Freshwater mafia will still be more concerned about kids knocking on doors and running off ….. don’t you think the bigger risk on the roads are people unfit to drive due to health or age who have no spacial awareness and take 10 mins to struggle into a vehicle then ride the clutch for half a mile and have no idea about reversing
They didn’t catch us until then high ho silver lining
U two boys are really cheesed off
We have our own road police now on the island so keep getting these idiots all year long now, be a safer summer hopefully this year for all of us.
