37-year-old Thomas Cornell has been banned from driving for 9 months after crashing his car in Bembridge and leaving it in a dangerous position.
It was just before 06:00 on the morning of 14th December last year that Police received a report of a collision involving an MG 3 (HW21 OJM) and a parked Ford Fiesta, as previously reported by Island Echo.
The incident occurred on Steyne Road.
Officers attended the scene but the driver had already fled, leaving his car in darkness and preventing other vehicles from passing.
Enquiries led Police to the door of Cornell, from Grange Road in Shanklin, who was subsequently charged with a number of offences.
Appearing at the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court last week, Thomas Cornell pleaded guilty to causing a vehicle to be left in a dangerous position, failing to stop after a road accident, failing to report a road accident and driving without due care and attention.
Magistrates handed Cornell a 9-month driving ban, fined him £615 and ordered him to pay £85 costs with a £246 surcharge.

Well he’s got away with drug/drink driving then! ,why else would you leave the scene ? , he crashed and anyone with functioning brain would consider others who could of subsequently crashed into his car – could easily of caused anothers death.
