Isle of Wight projects making a difference in their community are being offered a boost through a new round of funding.
Grants of up to £530,000 have been made available to support schemes that help Isle of Wight residents struggling with food, utility costs and other essentials.
The scheme is administered by Isle of Wight Council using its allocation from the Department for Work and Pensions’ Household Support Fund.
Since October 2021, around 250 grants have already been awarded to local organisations.
The council is particularly interested in both new and existing projects that assist people in crisis and those that aim to prevent households from falling into hardship. That could include initiatives such as cooking classes, community kitchens, joined-up advice and support services, or other creative ideas that align with the Isle of Wight Poverty Reduction Strategy.
Ian Lloyd, Strategic Manager for Partnerships and Support Services at Isle of Wight Council, has said:
“Grants like these play a vital role in supporting the Isle of Wight’s many community-led projects, helping them grow and continue delivering essential services – particularly to those who need them most. I’d really encourage more local groups and organisations to explore what this funding could offer their communities.”
Applications are invited from community and voluntary groups, charities, faith organisations, schools, colleges, early years settings, and town, parish and community councils. Applications must be submitted by Wednesday 2nd July.
Additional funding windows are planned for September and January, offering further opportunities to apply.

Personally I would much rather see cheaper
council tax for everyone.
