5 new trustees have been welcomed to the board of Age UK Isle of Wight, marking the charity’s most successful recruitment campaign to date. The ‘Become A Trustee’ campaign, launched in May, aimed to attract individuals living on the Island who are passionate about improving the lives of older people and making a positive impact in the community. The response was overwhelming, leading to the closure of the expression of interest portal within the first few weeks of the campaign due to high demand. As Trustees, Heather Bentley, Sara Coleman, Margaret Huxtable, Martin Bostock, and Martyn Pearl will bring a wealth of experience and insights to the established board. With these new additions to the organisation, the charity feels they will be able to enhance their ability to support and advocate for older individuals in the local community. A spokesperson for Age UK Isle of Wight has said:
“We were thrilled to see the incredible response from individuals on the Isle of Wight who are eager to support our charity and older members of our community. We look forward to welcoming the new perspectives and experiences they will bring to our Trustee board”.
The Trustees were appointed at the end of June to early July 2024, and are currently undergoing their induction to the charity. The role of a Trustee at Age UK Isle of Wight is voluntary and unpaid, underscoring the commitment and dedication of these individuals.
