The latest exhibition in the Acorns Gallery at Monkton Arts in Ryde features 5 experienced artists presenting examples of their artwork collectively for the first time. Freshwater Creatives Summer Show enables visitors to meet the artists during the exhibition. Their work will be available to purchase in the Lounge Café. Linda Beale says:
“I paint with acrylic on canvas, using a series of precise shapes, contrasting colours and tones, endeavouring to capture the essence of the land and seascape of the west Wight.” In this exhibition Linda is showing a series of recent artworks inspired by the diverse array of colours and shapes found in the rocks at Compton Beach.
Davina Smith trained at Manchester and Coventry Art Schools, specialising in Fine Art. Previously she was a Further Education art tutor in Manchester and Harrogate. Davina has also taught art and craft to people with Learning Disabilities in Yorkshire. Davina says:
“I enjoy landscape painting in oils and often make pen and ink sketches while out walking to use later in my work.” Since moving to the Isle of Wight she has taught art in care homes.
Esme Ballard paints landscape watercolours of the beautiful scenery in West Wight. She is showing 12 limited edition prints and said:
“I am delighted to be bringing my work to new audiences on the eastern side of the Island.”
Boris Moscoff will be exhibiting a selection of paintings, prints and glasswork, inspired by the colours of the natural world and landscapes of West Wight, using abstract and figurative styles. Boris is an experienced leader of workshops in stained-glass, fused glass and mosaics. Barry Ecuyer has concentrated on the light, scenery and people around Freshwater Bay for many years. He said:
“I hope my watercolours and acrylics will give visitors an inkling of the pleasure I had in making them.”
The exhibition in the Acons Gallery, Monkton Arts is open to the public daily from 6th – 16th August inclusive from 10:30 – 16:00.
