2 flood warnings and a host of flood alerts have been issued for the Isle of Wight tonight (Wednesday), with torrential downpours swelling watercourses and rivers Island-wide.
The Environment Agency has a flood warning in force now for Whitwell, Wroxall, Langbridge and Alverstone on the Eastern Yar.
Flooding is expected from the early hours of tomorrow morning, particularly at Alverstone and Langbridge, with access restricted to Horringford, Golf Links Road, and local footpaths.
Garden flooding is expected at Whitwell High Street.
In Newport, a flood warning is also in force for Carisbrooke and Hunny Hill on the Lukely Brook.
Locals are warned that flooding will affect property at the bottom of Castle Street and at Vicarage Walk. Water levels will be very high at Caesars Road and Old Westminster Lane, and the river could come out of bank flooding roads and parked cars.

Flood alerts are also in force for St John’s, Ryde; Eastern Yar; River Medina; Lukely Brook and Gurnard Luck.
As previously reported by Island Echo, the Isle of Wight is under a yellow weather warning until 23:00 tonight.
Local forecasters IW Met Service had predicted up to 40mm of rainfall, with equipment having already recorded 40mm over the past few hours.
