13 people have been made redundant at Liz Earle on the Isle of Wight as a result of a review of the brand’s performance and organisation, it has been confirmed.
As exclusively reported by Island Echo last month, up to 35 jobs both here on the Island and in London were deemed to be at risk.
It has now been confirmed that 13 members of staff locally and 1 in London have been made redundant.
The company previously stated that the UK retail market remains challenging and customer behaviours continue to change. This has led to a thorough review of the brand’s performance and organisation.
A spokesperson for Liz Earle has said:
“On 14th October we announced a number of changes to the Liz Earle business structure.
“We estimated that these changes would potentially impact around 30 to 35 employees located on the Isle of Wight and in London and that these roles would be at risk of redundancy.
“We can now confirm that this process is complete and through actions including redeployment a total of 14 colleagues will be leaving the business.
“This was not an easy decision to take and we want to thank all our colleagues for their support through this difficult time.”
Like the new businesses estate planned there at Ryde, likely end up being houses, as easy to ‘change’ ONCE planning approval has been given from ‘green field’ site to businesses, then easy to change it to more houses, using the excuse that businesses don’t want to relocate there.
These sly developers know every trick, AND the ‘right people’.
So is the shop in union street closing?
