The latest in a string of warnings has been issued to parents and guardians after an 11-year-old child was approached by a stranger in Sandown yesterday (Thursday).
The Bay CE Secondary School has posted on its Facebook page to alert parents and carers following the incident, in which an unknown man approached the child at Sandown Train Station.
It comes just days after a school in Carisbrooke was forced to issue a similar warning to parents in the area after a child was offered sweets by an unknown woman, as first reported by Island Echo.
A statement from The Bay CE Secondary School reads:
“A report has been made to the Police that an 11 year old student was approached by a man at Sandown train station on 13th May. Firstly we would like to reassure you that the student in question is safe and well.
“We understand that whilst rare, these kinds of incidents are very concerning for parents and students. Whilst it is important to stay alert you should not be alarmed. We do ask that you remind your children that they should not get into a car with, or go with, anyone they don’t know.”
The school says that police patrols in the area will be increased, and urges anyone who witnesses suspicious activity to contact the school and the police on 101. If someone is in danger, you should contact 999.

If the police and courts cannot deal with these dangerous perverts in our communities i can see vigilante groups forming to deal with the situation themselves, it is not just the Island but the whole of the UK which is affected.
Sickening isn’t it, that our judges can let these vermin roam the streets. Sad the other day a sicko with 6k of indecent photos of kids on his computer gets let off!! WTF. Yes I agree, people will soon take the law into their own hands?! I wouldn’t blame them.
Does anyone have a description of the person?
each time we see reports like this and each time we see offenders walking out of the court with barely a slap on the wrist is another step towards societal justice.
If the police and the court system loses the trust of society, then society will stop reporting crimes and meter punishment out itself under the cover of darkness and using masks, without saying a word to anyone.
fear of violent retribution without recourse is often enough to dissuade most criminals – the rest, well – plenty of methods available, if the courts won’t lock em up
