Police on the Isle of Wight are appealing for witnesses to a bizarre incident on Military Road, which saw a man grab the steering wheel of a moving vehicle.
It was at around 18:20 on 9th March that officers attended Compton Car Park following a report of a concern for welfare of a man.
Subsequently, a further report was received that the same man had grabbed a steering wheel of a black Vauxhall Corsa he was a passenger in while it was being driven along Military Road.
A 24-year-old man from Ryde was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, possession of Class A drugs, drink driving, common assault, causing a danger to road users, and interfering with a motor vehicle to endanger road users.
He has been bailed until 9th June while further enquiries are carried out.
Hamshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary would now like to speak to any witnesses and any motorists who have relevant dash cam footage.

I agree that more needs to be done to tackle drug driving,.. but unless you are will to foot the bill,.. locking them up & throwing away the key (as you put it), is just not possible…
As your persistant mantra seems to be to install speed cameras (and speed humps) everywhere, and incarcerate anyone who drigresses from what you consider to be acceptable..how, exactly, do you propose to pay for it all ?
