A man in his 40s is receiving treatment in Southampton General Hospital after sustaining a serious leg injury whilst riding his Domino’s delivery bike in Sandown last night (Sunday).
As first reported by Island Echo, emergency services were called to Leed Street at just before 19:50 to reports of a single vehicle collision.
Police, paramedics and supporting firefighters arrived on scene to find a male with serious leg injuries. It is thought he had come off the bike and smashed into a brick wall.
The severity of the situation led to Hampshire & Isle of Wight Air Ambulance being scrambled, landing at nearby Los Altos Park.
Flying medics tended to the injured motorcycle rider at the roadside, before he was flown directly to Southampton’s Major Trauma Centre.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary has confirmed that the man in his 40s sustained a serious leg injury – and that no other vehicles were involved.
