In recognition of the outstanding vegan food it offers Isle of Wight ferry operator Wightlink has been named “Best Ferry Operator for Vegan Food” in PETA’s Travel Awards. The awards – which celebrate the travel providers, hotels, attractions, and other industry leaders that are meeting the skyrocketing demand for vegan and animal-friendly travel – saw the cross-Solent travel operator clinch 1st prize. Wightlink’s eco-friendly ferries offer an array of locally made vegan sandwiches, sausage baps, and toasties, and customers can also pick up vegan sweet delights, including a Magnum ice cream. Today’s travellers are attracted to humane and ethical food, services, and experiences, and Wightlink enthusiastically meets that demand, proving that holidaymakers can enjoy top-notch food on the go while respecting animals and the planet. Dr Carys Bennett, PETA Corporate Projects Manager, has said:
“Travelling on a Wightlink ferry is the perfect way to start your Isle of Wight holiday – with an array of onboard offerings that promote kindness to animals. “The good people at Wightlink have set the industry standard for promoting vegan-friendly food and travel, and recognising them with this award is our way of saying thank you.”
Phil Delaney, Wightlink’s Commercial Director, says:
“Sustainability and customer service are among our key values and we are pleased our initiatives have been recognised in these national awards.
“We are looking to the future, focused on achieving net zero carbon emissions by 2050, and will be launching further projects later this year.”

These ferry companies keep accumulating awards like cheap Christmas decorations, they mean absolutely nothing to the wider community and certainly impress no one. If the Ferry companies spent as much time in giving the island a decent, reliable and economical service as they do chasing meaningless accolades, then we would probably have the best ferry service in the UK!
If you like tasteless cardboard ffernigs , then vegan is for you.
That is why Mr Gates eats meat himself, maybe that is why he is
reportedly buying up all the farms in U.S
Insects & Bugs etc coming to a restaurant near you soon
Funny, isn’t it, that in every cafe and eatery you go to it’s the vegan offerings which are left on the shelf towards the end of the day.
Not if I’m there
They may not get you to Portsmouth but you can rely on a lovely meat-free sandwich while you’re waiting … and waiting ..
When they don’t do a bacon sandwich or cheese on toast we have no option but to eat the cardboard they have on offer.
This must be a wind up?Its not April the first yet.All the delays, increased costs and cancellations leaving a living hell for many. But,hey, this so called ferry company do a great vegan meal!!! Knock yourself out if your one of the lucky ones to get onboard and can still afford a meal.Keep the good work up Wightlink!!!
I am glad Wightlink no longer except cash on board,
stops me buying this shite!
They current have 2 sandwich options. And sadly that’s all it takes. Still going in the right direction.
