Those crossing the Solent with Wightlink are facing delays of 60 minutes this morning (Friday) due to a mechanical issue.
Delays are currently being experienced on the Fishbourne-Portsmouth car ferry service.
A mechanical issue with an essential piece of equipment is to blame, although the operator has not expanded on what this issue is. Island Echo readers report that there is a problem with the linkspan at Portsmouth.
Wightlink apologise for any changes to your travel plans. All other routes are running to timetable.
UPDATE @ 11:07 – As a result of the mechanical issue, Wightlink have cancelled the 12:00 sailings from Fishbourne and Portsmouth.
UPDATE @ 13:00 – Delays have now been extended to 90 minutes.

Hope no one had any crucial appointments or planes to catch. Service ! It’s a joke.
Shit happens… problem is now fixed so maybe they can claw back the delays….Good job it wasn’t last week’s busy time…
