The Wight Eagles Academy celebrated the success of their various teams and players recently at their end-of-season awards evening. The biggest Award of the night was the Academy Star Award which was won by Daniela Robinson for all her hard work and dedication over the last 2 years. Some of the Awards were given out by Eagles sponsor Jonathan Thornton – CEO of PC Consultants – who are sponsoring the new under 18 sides tracksuits for next season. Also announced was that Liz Earle is to sponsor the club for the 24/25 season. Changes were made at board level too with Dan Verstraeten stepping up into the Director of Football, opening the door for Mike Ross to take over as Club Chairman. Eagles also appointed Hayley Roberts as Head of Welfare. Dan Verstraeten said:
“This has been our most challenging year yet with a lot of gaps opening within both the squad and at board level following an exodus at Christmas time. “Everyone has worked extremely hard to keep this club on track and I feel we’re now on top of things and bigger then ever. “The appointments we have made are going to change the club for the better and secure the long term future of the Eagles family. “We start Pre-Season training on July 4th at Queensgate School Field and the Academy girls this year will training alongside the 1st team ladies, all players welcome so please do come along and join in.”
