People with strong connections to Ryde have just days left to apply for a key voluntary role helping shape the town’s future and guide how up to £19.5million of Government funding is used.
Ryde Neighbourhood Board is searching for a new Independent Chair, with expressions of interest required by midnight on 30th September.
The successful applicant will help lead the town’s 10-year Vision and play a significant role in shaping how up to £19.5million of the Government’s Pride in Place funding is used to benefit Ryde and its community.
As well as providing leadership to the Board, the Independent Chair will act as an ambassador for Ryde, championing the town locally and nationally and helping to develop partnerships.
The Board says the successful candidate will also be expected to ensure its work remains community-led, transparent and focused on delivering long-term benefits.
Applications are open to people with strong connections to Ryde through living or working in the town, or playing a prominent role within the community.
Those holding elected political office are not eligible to apply.

The voluntary position is expected to involve a considerable time commitment, likely to be at least 3 days each month.
The initial term will run for 3 years, with the successful candidate having the opportunity to apply for a second term.
Ryde Neighbourhood Board is particularly interested in applicants who can demonstrate leadership experience, strategic thinking, partnership working and community engagement.
Candidates should also be able to build consensus and encourage collaboration.
Those interested are being asked to submit a supporting statement of no more than 500 words outlining their interest in the role, connection to Ryde and the skills and experience they could bring.
